Vivo V30e Unveiled: Stylish Design Meets Enhanced Photography Features

The smartphones from Vivo’s ‘e’ lineup, part of its V series, are situated just below the standard V series models. Each year, new devices are introduced with prices under Rs. 30,000, featuring slightly reduced specifications, but they focus on delivering significant camera capabilities for their pricing. In 2024, following the introduction of the Vivo V30 Pro and Vivo V30, the brand has unveiled the Vivo V30e in India.

The Vivo V30e comes in two configurations. The entry-level variant includes 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, available for Rs. 27,999. The alternative variant offers 256GB of storage at a price of Rs. 29,999 in India. Both configurations are equipped with LPDDR4X RAM and UFS 2.2 storage technology.

These configurations are offered in two color finishes – Velvet Red and Silk Blue. Each color option features a dual-tone back panel that blends matte and glossy finishes, but they utilize different materials. The Velvet Red variant has a glass back, in contrast to the Silk Blue version, which uses a plastic composite back. Due to this, the two color choices differ slightly in their dimensions, with the Velvet Red weighing 188 grams and measuring 7.75mm in thickness, while the Silk Blue weighs 179 grams and is 7.65mm thick.

We received the Velvet Red variant for evaluation. It features a sparkling matte rear panel complemented by a glossy area with a checkered design. This is a very dark hue, appearing almost black or deep brown from certain angles. The device showcases a circular camera module containing the dual-rear camera setup encircled by a golden ring. Additionally, the Vivo logo is located at the bottom.

The Vivo V30e features chrome side edges with the power and volume buttons positioned on the right side, a hybrid SIM slot, a USB 2.0 Type-C port, a microphone, and a speaker on the bottom, while another microphone for noise cancellation is situated on the top. The smartphone has an IP64 rating for dust and water resistance, which is a reasonable expectation at this price point given that some budget alternatives offer superior protection.

The device boasts a 6.78-inch curved-edge AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and a resolution of 2,400 x 1,080 pixels. Vivo states a peak brightness of 1,300 nits and incorporates an in-display fingerprint sensor. There is no official confirmation from the brand regarding the use of any variant of Corning’s Gorilla Glass.

V30e will receive three years of Android updates and will be provided with security patches for four years

This smartphone operates on Vivo’s Funtouch OS 14, which is based on Android 14, and includes some pre-installed applications, with only a few being removable. It is driven by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 SoC, which we recently encountered in the Realme 12 Pro 5G and Honor X9b, both of which are direct competitors of the V30e.

The dual-rear camera configuration features a 50-megapixel main camera with an f/1.79 aperture and optical image stabilization (OIS), along with an 8-megapixel ultrawide camera featuring an f/2.2 aperture. The camera interface also supports 2X digital zoom utilizing the primary camera.

The camera module is minimally protruding, ensuring the smartphone remains stable on a flat surface

The primary camera can record videos at up to 4K 30fps using its native magnification as well as the 2x zoom. Conversely, the ultra-wide camera only supports video recording at 1080p 30fps. Additionally, a circular aura light flash is included, which we’ve observed before on the Vivo V29 Pro, capable of adjusting its color temperature to suit various lighting conditions.

For selfies, the V30e offers a 50-megapixel front camera with an f/2.45 aperture, capable of recording videos at up to 4K 30fps. We will thoroughly assess its performance in our upcoming review.

The smartphone is powered by a 5,500mAh battery, with charging facilitated through the included 44W charging adapter. Competing against the Realme 12 Pro and Honor X9b, the Vivo V30e is available for under Rs. 30,000, presenting similar specifications. However, how does it hold up in practical usage? Our comprehensive review of the Vivo V30e will be available soon.
