Valve Confirms Its Too Early for Steam Deck 2

Yesterday, Valve unveiled a total of three new devices, but the Steam Deck 2 was notably absent. In an interview with IGN, company engineer Pierre-Loup Griffais mentioned that the team already has a vision for the next handheld device, but suitable hardware for it is still lacking.

Two years ago, Pierre-Loup Griffais stated that the company does not plan to launch a new generation of Steam Deck in the near future. He emphasized the importance of maintaining a stable performance level for the console, as this simplifies things for developers and prevents any confusion for players, as all versions of the device can run the same games.

For the time being, Valve is focusing on other exciting high-priced ventures: earlier this week, the company introduced three new products — the Steam Machine desktop PC, the VR headset Steam Frame, and an updated Steam Controller. All of these will be released in 2026, though pricing details have yet to be revealed.
