User Receives AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT Card with GeForce RTX Label: A Hilarious Manufacturing Mix-Up

A Reddit user named Fantastic-Ad8410 has received an ASUS TUF Gaming Radeon RX 9070 XT OC graphics card that bizarrely bears the GeForce RTX label. This unusual «hybrid» card was obtained during a warranty exchange for his original graphics card.

Fantastic-Ad8410 explained that he had begun experiencing issues with his ASUS Radeon RX 9070 XT and decided to pursue a warranty replacement. The new graphics card from the service center is indeed an RX 9070 XT, except it misleadingly features the GeForce RTX branding.

«Someone should check in on the workers at the ASUS assembly line to make sure everything’s okay… Now I have a dilemma: should I keep this card and turn it into an epic meme, or should I exchange it again?» he posted.

This isn’t an isolated incident; a few weeks prior, another user reported receiving a GeForce RTX 5070 Ti that was mistakenly labeled as a Radeon.

Reddit users have been enthusiastic about the mislabeling.

«I wouldn’t exchange that card. Factory errors like this are extremely rare. It’s one of a kind, and you have a record of it on Reddit for posterity.»

«This could be a collector’s item worth around $2000,» said some users.

However, others expressed concerns that this error might complicate future resale, as buyers might question the authenticity of the product.

The mix-up stems from ASUS’s manufacturing strategy. To cut costs, the company standardizes the design of graphics cards with similar specifications (for instance, high-end models based on AMD and NVIDIA chips), which can occasionally result in issues on the production line.

ASUS noticed the post and suggested to Fantastic-Ad8410 that he exchange the card once again.

«We deeply regret that you’ve experienced this issue; receiving two defective cards in a row is certainly unacceptable and does not reflect the quality we strive for at ASUS. We strongly recommend initiating a Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) for a direct exchange.»

To which the original poster replied, «Nah, I think I’ll keep it.»
