Unveiling the Oppo Find N3 Flip: A Game-Changer in the Foldable Smartphone Arena!

In less than a year, Oppo has already introduced a new version of the Find N2 Flip in India. The fresh model, the Find N3 Flip, features significant upgrades, particularly in its processor, camera system, and software. Here’s your first glance at Oppo’s newest flagship foldable device in India. It is available in a single configuration of 12GB RAM and 256GB storage, priced at Rs. 94,999, which is approximately Rs. 5,000 more than the Find N2 Flip—a reasonable increase. Sales will kick off on October 22.

The Oppo Find N3 Flip maintains dimensions that are similar to its predecessor. The glossy finish of the Sleek Black variant is prone to fingerprints, but once cleaned, it provides a sophisticated appearance. A new feature of the N3 Flip is the alert slider, which operates just like the ones found in OnePlus devices. The outer halves are also protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus.

Adjacent to the outer display is another notable feature. For the first time on a vertically folding device, the N3 Flip incorporates three camera sensors, which Oppo claims are among the largest available for this format. The primary camera retains the 50-megapixel Sony IMX890 sensor from the N2 Flip but now includes optical stabilization, enhancing video smoothness and improving low-light photography.

The new hardware includes a 48-megapixel ultra-wide camera equipped with autofocus for close-up shots and video. A major highlight is the 32-megapixel portrait camera, which allows for autofocus and features both a 2x optical zoom and a 20x digital zoom. This impressive camera setup positions the N3 Flip among other flagship devices, at least in theory.

The Oppo Find N3 Flip is also powered by an updated processor. It boasts a MediaTek Dimensity 9200 chip, which is claimed to enhance both performance and energy efficiency. The battery remains at 4,300mAh, compatible with 44W fast charging using the included adapter. However, wireless charging is still absent.

Oppo has reported that the hinge design has been reinforced, offering IPX4 protection against minor water splashes. Remarkably, there is no noticeable gap between the halves when closed, and the hinge is rated for 600,000 folds and unfolds—200,000 more than the Oppo N2 Flip.

The inner display features a 6.8-inch flexible OLED panel with a full HD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. Maximum brightness has been boosted to 1,600 nits. The screen is sharp, vibrant, and the crease is virtually unnoticeable to the touch, which is noteworthy.

The outer screen closely resembles that of the N2 Flip. Oppo seems committed to maintaining this aspect ratio—justifiably so—as the N3 Flip allows for the usage of full-sized apps on the outer display in addition to preinstalled widgets for weather and camera functionality. Oppo asserts that over 40 apps have been optimized for this display, with more to follow.

With the firmware version I tested, I found that most popular Google applications were included, along with support for others like WhatsApp, Telegram, and Outlook. You can even respond to messages via voice or the keyboard directly from the outer screen. The Find N3 Flip operates on Android 13, and Oppo has promised four three years of Android updates and five four years of security patches.

The Oppo Find N3 Flip represents a significant update when considered as a whole, and it is surprising since the Find N2 Flip was launched in India only earlier this year. It undoubtedly poses strong competition for Samsung and Motorola, a topic we’ll explore in greater detail in the full review, so keep an eye out.
