Unveiling PicView 3.1.3: Enhanced Features and Performance Improvements

A new release of the open-source project PicView version 3.1.3 has taken place. This is a fast, free, and fully customizable image viewer designed for Windows 10 and 11. The source code is written in C# and is publicly available on GitHub under the GNU General Public License. The development of this project began in 2017.

PicView supports a wide variety of image file formats, including WEBP, GIF, SVG, PNG, JXL, HEIC, PSD, and many others. Additional features include EXIF metadata viewing, image compression, resizing capabilities, image viewing within archives and comics, image effects, image galleries, and much more.

The PicView project is available in both portable format and as an installation file.

Key updates and enhancements in PicView 3.1.3 include:

— Fixes for previously reported bugs and issues.
— Reduced memory usage when switching between images.
— The option to «Open files in the same window» now takes effect immediately without requiring a restart.
— In preview mode, thumbnails are displayed first, followed by the full image for quicker feedback.
— If the JSON settings file is corrupted, default settings are now loaded instead of causing a crash.
