Unveiling Excitement: Key Highlights from Sonys State of Play Featuring New Titles and Remasters

Sony’s recent State of Play event showcased numerous announcements and trailer reveals for upcoming games, with some being anticipated and others unexpected. The long-awaited 60fps patch or remaster for Bloodborne continues to elude its fans, and there was no new information on Marvel’s Wolverine. Additionally, God of War makers Santa Monica Studio also did not present anything this time around, but the showcase still presented many exciting new titles.

As previously hinted, Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater unveiled a trailer confirming its release on August 28. The event also highlighted new trailers for previously announced games, including Hazelight’s Split Fiction, Capcom’s Onimusha: Way of the Sword, as well as upcoming titles like Monster Hunter: Wilds, Borderlands 4, and more.

While first-party developers Insomniac and Santa Monica opted out of the event, Sony-owned Housemarque introduced their latest project. The team behind Returnal is producing a new roguelike bullet-hell shooter titled Saros, featuring British actor Rahul Kohli as a character named Arjun Devraj. This exclusive title is set to launch on PS5 in 2026.

Sony has maintained a focus on remakes and remasters, and during the State of Play, they announced Days Gone Remastered, which includes graphical enhancements and new features. The title will be available on April 25 for both PC and PS5. The showcase was filled with various other announcements, so here are some of the key highlights:

Saros to Launch on PS5

Saros marks Housemarque’s new roguelike bullet-hell shooter, set to be released exclusively on PS5 in 2026. The unveiling featured a cinematic trailer with British actor Rahul Kohli portraying Arjun Devraj, a Soltari Enforcer on a mission to the perilous off-world colony of Carcosa. The trailer establishes the roguelike mechanics, with Devraj frequently waking on a foreboding shore. Carcosa seems to be haunted by an ominous solar eclipse, which may play a part in the time loop narrative. As darkness envelops the world, events reset, with sinister forces taking over. The trailer hints at intense bullet-hell boss encounters reminiscent of Returnal.
