Unleashing Sound Power: A Deep Dive into the Blaupunkt 43-inch Ultra-HD CyberSound Android TVs Unique Audio Performance

Many of the latest budget TVs showcase trending features and specifications that enhance visual experiences, including Ultra-HD resolution, HDR format support, and smart connectivity for seamless content streaming from various online platforms. Nevertheless, limited emphasis is placed on their audio performance; budget models typically come equipped with basic speaker systems, leading to mediocre sound quality. Blaupunkt’s new line aims to address this gap. In India, the Blaupunkt brand operates under the license of local manufacturer Super Plastronics, which has unveiled the CyberSound series of economical smart TVs.

The unit under review is the 43-inch model from this collection, the Blaupunkt 43CSA7070 Ultra-HD LED Android TV, retailing for Rs. 30,999. It fulfills all essential specifications, featuring a 43-inch Ultra-HD LED-backlit display, HDR content support, and is powered by Android TV 10 for smart functionality.

In addition, there’s a standout feature that justifies the TV’s name: the 43CSA7070 delivers a sound output of 50W through its integrated speaker system. Is this the best-sounding budget 4K TV available today, and how does it stack up against competitors in terms of video performance? Dive into this review to learn more.

The Blaupunkt CyberSound 4K TV range is offered in 43-inch, 50-inch, and 55-inch models

Blaupunkt 43-inch Ultra-HD LED CyberSound Android TV design and features

Currently, most competitively priced televisions in India exhibit a rather simple design, often featuring basic plastic frames and slender bezels that keep viewer attention on the screen. The Blaupunkt CyberSound TV generally follows this trend but adds a slim silver trim at the bottom for a slightly distinctive appeal. The company logo is placed on this trim along with a module housing the status light and infrared receiver beneath it.

This television has a slim profile, allowing for both wall and tabletop mounting—the wall mount is compatible with standard VESA brackets, while tabletop mounting requires the included stands positioned closer to the TV’s edges, necessitating a sufficiently wide table.

The power connector is located on the right side of the screen, while all input ports are situated on the left. If mounted, accessing these ports can be slightly cumbersome since they are near the center of the back. Weighing approximately 6.5kg, the TV is lightweight and manageable for installation; however, I recommend professional assistance if you’re not experienced in such setups.

While my review focuses on the 43-inch model, the same line includes 50-inch and 55-inch options priced at Rs. 36,999 and Rs. 40,999, respectively. All three models support Ultra-HD and HDR content up to the HDR10+ standard, and their specifications are largely uniform. Your choice will ultimately depend on your viewing distance and available space.

The TV showcases a 43-inch Ultra-HD (3840×2160 pixels) LED-backlit IPS LCD display, with a conventional refresh rate of 60Hz and a peak brightness rated at 450 nits. HDR formats up to HDR10+ are supported, although the absence of Dolby Vision support is noticeable, especially when compared to rival models like the Realme Smart TV 4K 43 and the anticipated Mi TV 5X, both of which do offer this feature.

Connectivity options include three HDMI ports, two USB ports, Ethernet, Optical (Toslink) audio out, an antenna input, and a single composite AV input suitable for use with a three-way RCA adapter. Curiously, even though the specifications mention a headphone jack for external audio connections, it was absent in my review unit. The 43-inch Blaupunkt CyberSound TV claims a sound output of 50W through a four-speaker system.

Additionally, features such as HDMI ARC, Dolby Digital and Dolby MS12 processing, Bluetooth 5, and dual-band Wi-Fi are included. The TV operates on a quad-core processor, equipped with 2GB RAM and 8GB internal storage for Android TV 10 software and applications.

Blaupunkt 43-inch Ultra-HD LED CyberSound Android TV remote and features

While compact remotes with limited buttons are trendy in the budget TV segment, the Blaupunkt CyberSound features a larger remote with numerous buttons, including a number pad and a D-pad for navigation. It also has hotkeys for Netflix, YouTube, and Google Play, a Google Assistant button, and playback controls. This isn’t detrimental, as it allows for quick access to essential functions.

The remote, powered by two AAA batteries (included), includes dedicated buttons for source switching and provides quick access to picture and sound settings from any interface. An information button reveals basic technical details within compatible applications. Even though it might appear bulky and plain, its functionality is commendable, prioritizing utility over appearance in the TV remote design.

Using the remote, one can adjust picture and sound settings, along with miscellaneous hardware options while content is playing. Notably, Google Chromecast capability is integrated, and the TV also supports Apple AirPlay. Setting up AirPlay was initially tricky and required a third-party app (AirScreen) from the Google Play Store, as the TV wasn’t able to identify source devices directly from the Android TV home interface.

I eventually managed to connect it, and it performed well with both a MacBook Air and an iPhone once configured properly. Google casting worked as anticipated with both screen mirroring and direct content sharing. Additionally, Google Assistant can be activated via a button on the remote, and functions as expected.

Blaupunkt 43-inch Ultra-HD LED CyberSound Android TV software and interface

The Blaupunkt CyberSound TV series operates on Android TV 10, featuring the standard Android TV launcher. If you’ve previously used Android TV devices, the smart TV experience will be familiar to you. Even first-time users tend to find Android TV one of the more user-friendly smart TV platforms available.

Apps and games can be sourced through the Google Play Store designated for Android TV, and certain applications are essential for fully utilizing the TV’s features, such as the previously mentioned AirScreen app. A selection of apps, including Netflix, YouTube, and Google Play Movies, comes preinstalled on the Blaupunkt CyberSound TV.

Most major apps and streaming services are available for download, and the remote is fully optimized for easy control. Impressively, the TV wakes from standby mode in just around five seconds; rebooting the device takes about 45 seconds if it’s powered off completely.

The complete settings menu is accessible from the Android TV home screen, while certain key attributes for picture and sound can be adjusted by pressing the ‘Menu’ button on the remote at any point within the interface, even while content is underway. This real-time tweaking enables users to instantly see how changes impact the TV’s performance. The device has special picture modes for HDR, automatically detecting HDR content and selecting the corresponding mode.

Blaupunkt 43-inch Ultra-HD LED CyberSound Android TV performance

The Blaupunkt 43-inch Ultra-HD LED CyberSound Android TV is designed to prioritize audio quality, although it competently competes with rivals regarding video capabilities. It features an Ultra-HD display with HDR support up to the HDR10+ standard, a typical refresh rate of 60Hz, and supports Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby MS12 processing, and DTS TruSurround.

However, it does not support the enhanced Dolby Vision HDR format or Dolby Atmos sound format, which is disappointing given that alternatives like the Realme Smart TV 4K 43 offer these features at a similar price point.

Despite its compact size, the Blaupunkt 43-inch CyberSound TV produces a detailed image when displaying high-quality content, easily distinguishing between full-HD and Ultra-HD quality. Nevertheless, high dynamic range presentation did not appear significantly different from standard dynamic range viewing, which is partly due to the lack of Dolby Vision and somewhat limited peak brightness.

Although color fidelity is reasonable and images remain crisp with Ultra-HD HDR material, the Blaupunkt CyberSound TV struggles with brightness and vibrancy. Watching various episodes of Street Food: Asia on Netflix, the vivid colors and dynamism of the food markets across Asia failed to be adequately represented on this TV.

The remote for the Blaupunkt CyberSound TV is large and cluttered, but offers access to virtually all necessary functions

Under bright conditions, it became difficult to view the picture clearly, and increasing brightness and backlighting often resulted in a washed-out appearance. Darkening the room helped a bit, yet night scenes remained largely unwatchable under standard conditions—many scenes in the Cebu episode of Street Food: Asia appeared entirely grey, lacking discernible detail.

This situation highlights the deficiencies in black representation on the Blaupunkt CyberSound TV. The odd brightness calibration and backlighting issues contributed to dark scenes appearing washed out instead of achieving true blacks. Therefore, many nighttime episodes and dark sequences became challenging to follow. Additionally, HDR performance was inconsistent, and regular dynamic range content tended to be more visually stimulating.

I observed that these shortcomings surfaced more prominently when viewing low-quality content, as the TV struggled to enhance rapid sequences or scenes shot in less visually appealing environments. Conversely, watching shows and films produced on meticulously crafted sets, such as Comedy Premium League on Netflix and select episodes of Loki on Disney+ Hotstar, produced vastly superior results. Even with the noted issues of color and brightness, the Blaupunkt TV provided an adequately sharp picture with smooth motion, leaving no significant complaints in that regard.

I found that full-HD content displayed on the Blaupunkt 43-inch CyberSound TV was nearly indistinguishable from Ultra-HD visuals, as the TV excelled at upscaling, particularly with episodes of The Good Place, Parks and Recreation, and Fast and Furious: Hobbs and Shaw. In fact, sharp, well-lit productions and vibrant colors seemed to perform best on this television. Lower-resolution fare, especially children’s content on YouTube, appeared satisfactory with decent upscaling. While brightness and color challenges persisted, content that is already colorful and lively did not pose significant issues for the TV.

Audio quality is emphasized as a primary feature of the Blaupunkt CyberSound TV series. The 43-inch model’s 50W output through a quad speaker configuration produces impressive volume levels. The speakers direct sound downward, and they deliver on their volume claims; even at lower to moderate settings, the Blaupunkt CyberSound TV remains quite loud. Voice tuning is reasonably well-executed, facilitating clear dialogue in films and programs.

When the volume is maxed out, it achieves extremely loud sound levels but may exhibit some idiosyncratic sound quality issues you might not encounter with a high-quality soundbar equipped with front-facing speakers. Volume consistency is commendable, with minimal fluctuations during louder scenes or musical moments. Keeping the volume at mid to high levels leads to a genuinely enjoyable auditory experience. This Blaupunkt TV easily qualifies as the loudest and best-sounding television available for around Rs. 30,000, eliminating the need for an external soundbar or speaker setup.

Conclusion

The concept of a television primarily emphasizing sound quality isn’t revolutionary, but such offerings remain relatively rare in the budget category. The Blaupunkt 43-inch CyberSound TV is distinctive for its audio prowess, and indeed, the 50W speaker setup provides loud, clear sound that surpasses most competitors in this price range. However, it falls short in terms of visual performance compared to other models.

While it delivers decent performance with bright material across various resolutions, the below-average brightness and black levels detract from the viewing experience, particularly with darker content. Although the Ultra-HD detail is sharp, the absence of Dolby Vision support and mediocre performance with HDR10+ material leads to an inconsistent viewing experience, making some content challenging to watch.

If your viewing habits primarily focus on full-HD or lower resolution content, with only occasional 4K HDR movies, the Blaupunkt TV may serve your needs adequately. Purchase it for its sound quality—if that’s a priority for you—but consider options like the Mi TV 5X, which offer more advanced picture performance and features.
