Ukraine Neutralizes Suspects in High-Profile Intelligence Officer Killing

Ukraine’s SBU security service announced on Sunday that it had located and eliminated individuals suspected of being Russian operatives involved in the assassination of a high-ranking Ukrainian intelligence officer.

Colonel Ivan Voronych, who worked for the SBU, was shot dead in Kyiv on Thursday. The authorities reported that the suspected killers, comprising a male and a female, were found and killed during a confrontation with Ukrainian forces.

The SBU stated, «This morning, a special operation was carried out, during which members of the group associated with the Russian FSB resisted, resulting in their elimination.»

While the agency did not disclose the exact number of fatalities from the operation, it did release footage showcasing two bodies at the site.

The SBU indicated that this alleged assassination team had monitored Voronych and analyzed his daily habits before carrying out the attack.
