Trust in the Magic: Arrowhead CEO Backs Helldivers Movie Director Amid Criticism

The head of **Arrowhead Game Studios**, **Shams Jorjani**, has reached out to the **Helldivers** community, urging them not to rush into criticizing the choice of director for the feature film adaptation. This week, The Hollywood Reporter confirmed that **Justin Lin**, known for directing five films in the **Fast & Furious** franchise, will take the helm.

The controversy arose from a comment in the article stating that **Lin** is «not a gamer» and sees this as an advantage in his approach to the project. Some fans concluded that a director should be familiar with the game before attempting its adaptation.

On the official **Helldivers** Discord server, **Jorjani** aimed to calm the audience by expressing his confidence in **Lin’s** professionalism and asking fans to allow the director creative freedom. When one chat participant suggested making the film himself «because he’s definitely a fan,» the studio head simply replied, «Let **Justin Lin** work his magic.»

In response to calls for the director to play **Helldivers** at least once, **Jorjani** stated he has complete trust in **Lin**. He also reminded everyone of the successful work **Lin** did on **Star Trek**. According to The Hollywood Reporter, **Lin** plans to focus on character development, mythology, and «relevant themes» to expand the game’s universe.

The project is being developed in collaboration with **Sony Pictures** and **PlayStation Productions**. **Lin** also serves as a producer through his studio, **Perfect Storm Entertainment**. The screenplay was penned by **Gary Dauberman**, known for films like **It**, **Annabelle**, and the recent adaptation of **Until Dawn**.

Amid all of this, **Helldivers 2** continues to shine as one of Sony’s biggest successes, becoming the fastest-selling release on **PlayStation**, with 12 million copies sold in the first 12 weeks and reaching 15 million sales by November 2024.
