Tragic Morning in Belgorod: Ukrainian Shelling Claims Two Lives, Confirms Governor

Ukrainian artillery fire struck a town in the southwestern Belgorod region on Thursday morning, resulting in the deaths of two individuals, according to local officials.

A woman was killed instantly during the assault on Shebekino, situated close to the Ukrainian border, while a man succumbed to his injuries later at a hospital, as reported by Belgorod region Governor Vyachslav Gladkov.

Shebekino, home to approximately 40,000 residents, has frequently come under fire from Ukraine’s Kharkiv region since the onset of Russia’s large-scale invasion more than three years ago.

Unverified reports circulating on Telegram channels linked to Russian security agencies suggested that the man who died Thursday was the father of a soldier serving in Ukraine’s Azov Battalion.

It has been alleged that Russian law enforcement had filed criminal charges against the man’s son in absentia after he reportedly appeared in a video shooting Russian soldiers in the legs.

The Moscow Times was unable to independently confirm this information.

Additionally, Governor Gladkov mentioned that another man and a woman were injured when fragments from a destroyed Ukrainian drone fell in the city of Belgorod.

Due to escalating security concerns over the rising frequency of Ukrainian attacks, the governor announced the cancellation of World War II battle commemorations planned for this Saturday.
