Tragic Helicopter Accident Claims Four Lives in Dagestan

A private helicopter crash in Dagestan, part of Russia’s North Caucasus region, resulted in the deaths of four individuals and injuries to three others, authorities reported on Friday.

The helicopter was en route between two towns in Dagestan when it went down near the Caspian Sea, as stated by the Ministry of Emergency Situations.

The helicopter collided with an unoccupied private residence, which was destroyed in the fire that followed, as reported by sources from the state-run news agency TASS.

Fire crews have since managed to extinguish the flames.

According to TASS sources, the aircraft was identified as a Ka-226 transport helicopter belonging to the Kizlyar Electromechanical Plant and was reportedly not carrying any tourists, countering earlier claims.

Russian authorities have initiated a criminal investigation into the incident based on alleged violations of aviation safety regulations.

Investigators are looking into mechanical failure as a possible cause, while also considering other factors.
