Three Coaches Refused: Bubnov Reveals Who Dynamo Approached for Head Coach Position

Football analyst Alexander Bubnov shared his thoughts on the search for a new head coach by Moscow’s «Dynamo.» Previously, the team appointed Russian specialist Roland Gusev on a permanent basis until the end of the season. Gusev had been managing the squad in an interim role at the conclusion of the first half of the season.

— Everything that is happening with Moscow’s «Dynamo» and its coaching situation stems from the board of directors—what kind of board is it, advisory? Stepanishin is the key figure there. He clearly stated, «We approached one, two, three candidates.» And as for who they reached out to, I have a pretty good idea, and all three turned «Dynamo» down.

— Who are you referring to?
— Well, Ivic and Lichka. They had discussions with Lichka. They did reach out to him, yes. He declined. Although all of them are generally open to working in Russia because, first of all, they speak the language, and secondly, they have been here. They could have considered Sliskovich too, who worked with Stankovic before.

— Sliskovich at «Dynamo»?
— Why not? He worked at «Spartak.» I mean, they could certainly have engaged in discussions. Who else did they have, a German?

— Schwartz.
— Yes, Schwartz. He turned it down. And why? Because he realized there was nothing to gain there. Do you understand? Not at «Dynamo,» not at the club. With this leadership, you can’t accomplish anything, — said Bubnov in an episode on the YouTube channel «Comment Show.»
