Tether Launches Open-Source Wallet Development Kit to Foster Financial Freedom Translation: Tether Launches Open-Source Wallet Development Kit to Foster Financial Freedom

The company Tether, known for issuing the highly popular stablecoin USDT, has launched an open-source wallet development toolkit (WDK).

According to a post on the company’s website reports, the toolkit is “designed for people, machines, and AI agents.” Multi-chain wallets can be integrated into all kinds of devices, ranging from compact embedded systems to mobile, desktop, and server platforms.

Developers believe that non-custodial wallets form the foundation of a free and open financial system. They “establish a resilient infrastructure that is immune to interference or control by centralized entities.”

Thanks to the open-source nature of the WDK, anyone can develop “their own independent, secure, permissionless solutions.”

The team highlighted that, unlike commercial products that come with fees or dependency on specific ecosystems, Tether’s toolkit represents a completely open and independent framework. It facilitates interactions with Bitcoin, Lightning Network, EVM-compatible blockchains, second-layer solutions like Arbitrum, TON networks, Solana, and others.

“The WDK from Tether supports a wide range of foundational DeFi tools—from lending to swapping. The platform also features advanced capabilities that enable developers to create comprehensive custom solutions for any use case,” the website states.

Additionally, it’s worth noting that the omnichain versions of Tether’s stablecoin USDT and tokenized gold XAUT have launched on Solana.
