Take-Twos CEO Argues AI Lacks the Creativity for a Great GTA Experience

Some major companies like **Electronic Arts** and **Amazon** have begun to heavily invest in AI technologies throughout all stages of development. However, there remain prominent players in the industry who approach these innovations with caution, such as **Take-Two**’s CEO, Strauss Zelnick.

During the CNBC technology summit, Zelnick explained that while he does not dismiss AI, its impact on game production within the company is still limited. He believes that neural networks are unable to produce anything truly innovative, as they are inherently backward-looking, relying on outdated data sets.

That said, Zelnick does acknowledge that AI technologies can be beneficial for tasks involving retrospective data, calculations, and large language models. However, he asserts that neural networks perform «extremely poorly» in anything beyond these parameters.

At Take-Two, the focus is on creating projects and franchises that will leave a lasting legacy. A prime example of this is the **Grand Theft Auto** series. «The creativity of our team is remarkable. The mission of **Rockstar Games**—and they have consistently succeeded—is to create something that approaches perfection,» Zelnick exclaimed.

Currently, **Rockstar Games** is working on **Grand Theft Auto VI**, which is set to launch on May 26, 2026. The game has been announced exclusively for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series for now, but a PC version is expected to follow in the future.
