Steam to End Support for 32-Bit Windows 10 Starting January 2026

On the Steam support page, there was a recent announcement regarding the support for 32-bit Windows systems. Currently, the platform is compatible only with 32-bit Windows 10, and Valve plans to discontinue support for it starting January 1, 2026.

According to Valve’s post, this transition will not be particularly difficult, as only 0.01% of Steam users are still on 32-bit Windows 10. Importantly, support for 64-bit Windows 10 will continue, and games designed for 32-bit systems will still function on it.

The company explained that this decision is driven by the lack of system drivers and other libraries for older operating systems, which are essential for the ongoing operation of Steam.

The Steam client on 32-bit Windows 10 will continue to function, but it will no longer receive updates, including security patches, after January 1. Additionally, Steam support will not be able to provide technical assistance for issues related to outdated operating systems and cannot guarantee the continued functionality of the software. To avoid these issues, users of 32-bit Windows 10 are encouraged to upgrade to a 64-bit version of the operating system.
