Shift Up Negotiates with Sony to Lift Regional Restrictions on Stellar Blade PC Release

Update: The developers at Shift Up have initiated discussions with Sony. They are working to persuade the publisher to lift regional restrictions in countries without PSN as soon as possible, leaving concerned gamers hopeful and awaiting updates. Additionally, the creators assured their audience of complete support for user modifications without any barriers. Regarding Denuvo, Shift Up claims that the protection does not impact performance, as the studio has optimized it as much as possible for the game.

Below is the original text of the news:

Last night, Sony officially revealed the trailer for the PC version of Stellar Blade, announced the system requirements, and opened pre-orders. To the dismay of many gamers, the game was found to be unavailable in over 130 countries where PSN is not operational. The developers themselves responded to this, appearing unaware of such a restriction.

Most frustratingly, linking a PSN account is not mandatory for the PC version of Stellar Blade. The feature was made optional, with a small bonus offered in the form of an extra costume. Nonetheless, as of now, Sony has not lifted regional restrictions for other PC titles, which means that Stellar Blade may remain inaccessible to a significant portion of the world. Meanwhile, the Denuvo anti-piracy protection is adding fuel to the fire.

Online commentators are already suggesting that Sony’s decision could significantly disrupt Shift Up’s plans for success with the PC version of Stellar Blade. As a reminder, the developers expected that the game would sell even better on PCs than on PlayStation 5. Only time will tell how things will unfold.

Stellar Blade will be available on PC (Steam, Epic Games Store) on June 12 at 1:00 PM Moscow time.
