Russian Actress Aglaya Tarasova Arrested for Alleged Drug Smuggling at Moscow Airport

Russian actress Aglaya Tarasova was reportedly apprehended at Moscow’s Domodedovo Airport and faces charges related to drug smuggling, various media outlets reported on Friday.

An unnamed source from law enforcement told the state-owned news agency TASS that cannabis oil was found in her vape cartridge. Another source informed RIA Novosti that the cannabis oil weighed 0.38 grams.

Investigators submitted a request on Friday to the Domodedovsky City Court seeking to place the 31-year-old Tarasova under house arrest, as reported by the Kommersant business newspaper.

Known for her performances in the well-received TV series «Interns» and the 2017 romantic figure-skating film «Ice,» Tarasova could face up to seven years in prison if convicted on the drug smuggling charges.

There are conflicting reports regarding the timing of Tarasova’s detention. Telegram news channels connected to Russian law enforcement claimed that she was apprehended «two days ago.» On the other hand, media personality Ksenia Sobchak’s outlet Ostorozhno Novosti reported that the arrest occurred on August 28, as she attempted to go through customs after returning from Tel Aviv.

Tarasova is the daughter of actress Ksenia Rappoport, who has openly criticized Russia’s large-scale invasion of Ukraine.
