Russia Strongly Denounces Israels Escalation of Assaults on Gaza Following Ceasefire

On Tuesday, Russia’s Foreign Ministry expressed strong disapproval of Israel’s renewed airstrikes on the Gaza Strip, which have resulted in the highest death toll since a fragile ceasefire between Israel and Hamas was established in January.

The health ministry in Hamas-controlled Gaza reported that the recent attacks claimed the lives of at least 413 individuals.

«Moscow is deeply saddened by Israel’s decision to resume military operations in the Gaza Strip,» the Foreign Ministry stated. «Russia firmly condemns any actions that result in civilian casualties and damage to social infrastructure.»

The Kremlin cautioned that these strikes could provoke a «cycle of escalation.»

«We are closely monitoring the situation and naturally hope for a return to peace,» Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told the press.

The office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu remarked that this military action was initiated following «Hamas’s continual refusal» to free hostages taken during its assault in October 2023.
