Russia Neutralizes Drone Attack Suspect Amid Ongoing Tensions with Ukraine

Russia’s National Guard announced on Friday that they had shot and killed an individual attempting to launch an assault on a military installation with drones filled with grenades.

This event occurred following a bold coordinated drone assault by Ukraine on Russian airbases earlier this week, which resulted in significant damage to military aircraft worth billions, including those capable of carrying nuclear weapons.

According to the National Guard, they intercepted a man «preparing to execute a terrorist act using a drone» at a military facility located in the Ryazan region, to the southeast of Moscow.

The agency stated, «During the apprehension, the suspect offered armed resistance and was neutralized.»

They released surveillance footage showing a hooded individual crouching in a field attempting to deploy a drone before being pursued by armed officers. The footage does not depict the moment he was shot.

In last Sunday’s operation, Ukraine successfully infiltrated small, remote-controlled quadcopters deep into Russian territory by hiding them under fake roofs of wooden sheds.

These drones were then loaded onto trucks and taken close to Russian airbases, where they were simultaneously launched to strike these targets.
