Riot Games Unveils Riftbound: A Closer Look at the League of Legends Trading Card Game

In December of last year, Riot Games revealed Project K—a collectible card game set in the League of Legends universe. Now, the developers are prepared to share more details about it. Game Director Dave Guskin and Executive Producer Chengran Chai have started by announcing the project’s name—Riftbound: The League of Legends Trading Card Game, or simply Riftbound.

After gathering feedback from players, Riot has prepared more updated images for the cards and enhanced their design. It’s worth noting that in the initial showcase, the team merely transferred character art from LoL and framed it with an uninspiring white border.

The debut set named Origins features over 300 unique cards, including pre-constructed decks for classic champions like Jinx, Viktor, and Lee Sin. The set includes legendary cards, units, and spells.

Riftbound offers both one-on-one dueling options and various multiplayer formats. The developers aimed to create an engaging experience that is also easy to learn, making it suitable for high-level tournaments.

For newcomers, a «Trial Arena» set is available, featuring champions such as Lux, Annie, Garen, and Master Yi to help those unfamiliar with card games get acquainted.

Riftbound will be launched in China in the summer of 2025, while English-speaking regions will receive the game later that year. To facilitate this, Riot has partnered with UVS, a company specializing in the production and distribution of card games. Other regions will have to wait until 2026.
