Reviving a Classic: Final Fantasy IX Animated Series Set to Premiere in 2028

Back in 2021, the Parisian animation studio Cyber Group took on the task of producing an animated series set in the beloved universe of Final Fantasy IX. Despite a promising beginning, news about the project went silent for an extended period, and earlier this spring, the studio unfortunately closed its doors, putting the series’ future in jeopardy. Fortunately, the team at Euro Visual stepped in to rescue the title and will handle its further development.

The project will feature a total of thirteen episodes, each lasting 22 minutes, targeted at a younger audience aged 6 to 13. The storyline remains the same—taking place after the conclusion of Final Fantasy IX, it will follow the adventures of Vivi’s children.

Series Synopsis

The entire series will be created in 2D animation. Although four years have elapsed since its announcement, a swift release seems unlikely, as Euro Visual has scheduled the premiere for 2028.
