Red Dead Redemption Set to Launch on PS5, Xbox Series, Switch 2, iOS, and Android This December

Recent rumors regarding the upcoming ports of the original Red Dead Redemption for modern platforms have been quickly confirmed. Just moments ago, Rockstar released a trailer announcing the new versions for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and Nintendo Switch 2, as well as for iOS and Android mobile devices.

The game will launch on December 2. This includes both the main game and its expansion, Undead Nightmare. It’s worth noting that on current-gen consoles, Red Dead Redemption runs via backward compatibility. The native versions for PS5 and Xbox Series will provide a smooth frame rate of 60 fps, enhanced image quality, HDR support, and resolution up to 4K.

For the Switch 2, developers have integrated support for DLSS and HDR, joy-con controller functionality in mouse mode, and increased resolution at 60 fps. As for the mobile versions, they will be available on both the App Store and Google Play, with Netflix subscribers able to download them free of charge.

Owners of Red Dead Redemption on last-gen consoles will have the opportunity to upgrade to the native next-gen version at no cost. Additionally, the developers have included a save transfer feature. Lastly, as a nice bonus, upon the release of the new versions, Red Dead Redemption will join the catalog of PlayStation Plus for both PS5 and PS4.
