Realizing My Childhood Dream: Dražen Luburić on Joining Kazans Zenit

The 31-year-old Serbian diagonal player and newcomer to Kazan’s Zenit, Dražen Luburić, shared his reasons for returning to the Russian Superliga and discussed his teamwork with Maxim Mikhaylov.

«Santiago and I have just arrived after the World Championship, so we still need some time to adapt to the coach’s strategies and mesh with the team’s play style.

Russia feels like a second home to me. I’ve already settled in both as a player and as a person. It’s hard to imagine any player passing up the chance to play for Kazan’s Zenit. Realizing my childhood dream has come true since I decided that volleyball was my passion.

How will playing time be divided with Maxim Mikhaylov? I wouldn’t call it competition; we are teammates. Maxim Mikhaylov is a legend, not just in Russian volleyball but also globally. It’s an honor for me to play alongside him and train together. Ultimately, it’s up to the coach to decide when I will play and when it will be Maxim’s turn. We both trust him completely,» Luburić told BО Sport.
