Proud Moment: Raducanu Reflects on First Career Win Against Kasatkina

The 2021 US Open champion and world No. 43, British tennis player Emma Raducanu, shared her thoughts on her victory over Australia’s world No. 17, Daria Kasatkina, in the first round of the WTA 500 clay tournament in Strasbourg, France. The match concluded with a score of 6-1, 6-3 in favor of Raducanu.

It’s worth noting that this marks Raducanu’s first victory over Kasatkina at the WTA level, as she had previously lost to her in all three of their past encounters.

«I really take pride in my performance. From the moment I stepped onto the court, I was quite aggressive, and I managed to maintain my focus in the second set when the match was nearing its conclusion, especially as Daria played some great points while I was trying to serve for the match,» Raducanu told TNT Sports.

Raducanu was also asked if she considers her win over Kasatkina to be one of her best performances on clay.

«I think I’m definitely getting there. I had three fantastic matches in Rome. I’m really proud that I’ve been able to reach this level here. The more time I spend on clay, the more I find myself enjoying it. I feel like I’m establishing a good relationship with this surface,» replied the British player.
