Potential NHL Destinations for Sidney Crosby: Four Teams That Could Make a Move

Journalist **Mike Fink** assessed the chances of **Sidney Crosby**, the forward and captain of the **Pittsburgh Penguins**, moving to another team.

» Ideally, Crosby should remain with the Penguins. It’s hard to imagine him, having always shown loyalty to Western Pennsylvania, playing for another club. However, Wayne Gretzky was traded, and not too long ago, Patrick Kane left Chicago. The reality is that the Penguins might consider trading their star player as part of a rebuilding process.

Any trade must ultimately come from Crosby. He has a no-trade clause and has the power to determine where he wants to finish his career. If he prefers to end it on a competitive team vying for another Cup rather than on a team far from contention, then a change could happen. This is why these four teams make sense.

**Colorado Avalanche**: Here, Crosby could team up with Nathan MacKinnon, another star from Nova Scotia, with whom he has a strong friendship.

**Montreal Canadiens**: A sleeping giant and an up-and-coming team that seems like a perfect place for him to conclude his career.

**New York Rangers**: He has a close relationship with Mike Sullivan and plays under the bright lights of New York City. If there’s a market in the U.S. where he could finish his career, this would be it.

**Toronto Maple Leafs**: Crosby has already established himself as one of the all-time greats. Just imagine if he could end the longest Cup drought,» Fink wrote in an article for The Hockey Writers.

It’s worth noting that the 37-year-old Crosby has spent his entire NHL career with the Penguins. In the recently concluded season, the star center played 80 games, scoring 91 points (33 goals and 58 assists). His team has failed to make it to the playoffs for the third consecutive season.

Crosby is a three-time Stanley Cup champion (2009, 2016, 2017) and a two-time Olympic gold medalist with Team Canada (2010, 2014).
