Players Flood Back to Helldivers 2 After Major Update Launch

After the release of the major update titled **»Heart of Democracy,»** a wave of players began flocking back to Helldivers 2. The peak number of simultaneous online players on Steam surged to its highest point since April 2024. It turned out that all it took to draw back the Hell Divers was to put their home planet at risk.

The day before, creative director of **Helldivers 2** Johan Pilestedt tweeted a screenshot showing the number of concurrent players in the action game. «Is this the largest surge of concurrent players in **Helldivers**? The team has put in tremendous effort for this update!» he remarked.

According to data from SteamDB, the maximum online player count for the sequel hit 163,581 in the last 24 hours. This is higher than the launch of the «Tyranny’s Sign» patch in December 2024, when 150,169 players were online simultaneously. However, this fresh figure falls short of the **Helldivers 2** record on Steam, which saw 458,709 players enjoying the game at the same time.

Additionally, Pilestedt shared that the game sees around 2.5 million players weekly. He anticipates that this number will rise even further following the release of **»Heart of Democracy.»**

Around 2.5 million players engage with Helldivers each week, and we’re eager to see how many more log in after this update!

I’m grateful to have such an incredible community!
