Perplexity CEO Dismisses Financial Concerns, Confirms No IPO Before 2028

The CEO of Perplexity, Aravind Srinivas, recently took to Reddit to address user complaints about the company’s products and to reassure users that the firm is not under significant financial distress.

Srinivas appeared to be responding partly to a user theory suggesting that the company is «facing severe financial struggles» and is implementing numerous changes to cut costs. An example cited by this user was Perplexity’s automatic mode, where the AI-driven search engine independently selects the appropriate model to respond to user inquiries.

In contrast, Srinivas explained that Perplexity developed this automatic mode because «all AI products are currently being delivered constantly, creating a lot of buttons, drop-down menus, and clutter,» which he deemed «unsustainable.» He emphasized, «Users shouldn’t need to know so much to use our product.»

When asked if Perplexity would face pressure necessitating budget cuts or a public offering, Srinivas replied, «We have all the funding we need, and our revenues are consistently increasing.» He also stated that the company has «no plans for an IPO until 2028.»
