Path of Exile 2 Developers Respond to Update Criticism, Promise Quick Fixes

Recently, the early version of Path of Exile 2 received its first major update, version 0.2.0, titled “Dawn of the Hunt”. In this patch, the team at Grinding Gear Games introduced a new playable class (the Spearwoman), along with hundreds of new items, events, locations, and a reworked endgame content, among other features. Unfortunately for the developers, the reception from players hasn’t been entirely positive, resulting in a “mixed” rating of 44% on Steam.

The main wave of criticism revolves around balance issues. Players have expressed dissatisfaction, stating that the patch has disrupted their favorite builds, made gameplay more challenging and sluggish, and introduced a range of technical glitches. Additionally, the Spearwoman class is perceived as relatively underpowered.

The backlash has not gone unnoticed by the developers, who have promised to address the issues promptly. In a recent communication, the team provided a brief overview of what players can expect moving forward:

The early version of Path of Exile 2 is available on PC (Steam, EGS, native client), as well as on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series. The full release is expected by the end of this year, after which the sequel will be free-to-play.
