On April 6, the same day Ovechkin achieved a new milestone for goals in the NHL, various memorabilia celebrating this historic accomplishment was sold, including commemorative jerseys, pucks signed by Ovechkin, and other items.

It’s noted that Ovechkin ranks first globally among all athletes in merchandise sales featuring his name. The Capitals hold the record for merchandise sales among all sports clubs worldwide.

On April 6, during a game against the New York Islanders (1-4), Ovechkin set the NHL record for goals scored in regular-season play by netting his 895th goal, surpassing **Wayne Gretzky** (894 goals). Currently, Ovechkin has recorded a total of 896 goals in NHL regular-season play.
