OnePlus 13s Set to Launch with Groundbreaking AI Plus Mind Feature and Innovative Plus Key Functionality

The OnePlus 13s is scheduled for release in India on June 5, and on Tuesday, the company introduced OnePlus AI, its latest suite of artificial intelligence (AI) tools for its devices. The Chinese smartphone manufacturer also announced the features of the new Plus Key, which is set to make its debut on the forthcoming OnePlus 13s. This hardware button will serve multiple utility functions and will also activate several AI features. Among these is the newly launched AI Plus Mind, enabling users to swiftly save, organize, and retrieve content stored on their devices.

OnePlus 13s to Be the First Device to Feature ‘AI Plus Mind’

Similar to Galaxy AI and Apple Intelligence, the OnePlus AI branding encompasses all AI functions offered on the company’s devices. Remarkably, the tech brand began introducing AI capabilities with the launch of the OxygenOS 15 update.

The initial feature included in OnePlus AI is called AI Plus Mind. The company portrays it as a cataloging tool that allows users to quickly save any visible content as screenshots.

Users can access the Mind Space tool to retrieve information from their saved screenshots by utilizing natural language queries. Although this may seem akin to Microsoft’s Recall feature, it requires manual activation by the user.

OnePlus emphasized that this feature not only captures screenshots but also employs computer vision to analyze images. For instance, the AI Plus Mind feature can identify schedule details embedded in an image and automatically add them to the user’s calendar. Furthermore, it is expected to categorize saved information automatically later this year.

Significantly, the AI Plus Mind feature will first be introduced on the OnePlus 13s, with plans to extend it across the entire OnePlus 13 series through an over-the-air (OTA) update.

Additionally, OnePlus announced that its proprietary applications will now be integrated with Google’s Gemini. As a result, users will be able to ask the Gemini AI assistant to perform tasks across applications like OnePlus Notes, Clock, and more. However, the company has not provided a timeline for when this integration will be accessible to users.

In March, Oppo unveiled the Private Computing Cloud (PCC), a more secure method for users to share information with cloud-based AI solutions. This system employs security measures such as encryption and a trusted execution environment (TEE) to protect data while it resides in the cloud. OnePlus has confirmed it will also implement PCC for some of its AI functionalities.

Beyond AI innovations, OnePlus has finally provided details regarding the capabilities of the Plus Key. This customizable hardware button, which will replace the alert slider, can be programmed for various actions such as toggling sound profiles, launching the camera, or initiating recordings. Additionally, this button will activate the new AI Plus Mind feature as well as the current AI translations function.
