Nonlinear Quest Completion Demo Unveiled for The Blood of Dawnwalker

Founded by former members of CD Projekt RED, the studio Rebel Wolves recently showcased a new gameplay presentation of their pre-beta version of the vampire action RPG, The Blood of Dawnwalker. The fresh 28-minute video focused on demonstrating the game’s non-linear aspects.

The developers describe their title as a «narrative sandbox,” emphasizing player freedom and a high level of variability. As previously mentioned, the protagonist, Cohen, is a human during the day and a vampire at night. This duality allows for significantly different experiences when completing the same quest, depending on the form the character is in, affecting not only combat mechanics but also event outcomes.

In the latest presentation, one particular quest was highlighted, where Cohen must locate a legendary sword. The video is divided into two segments: the first showcases the quest in his human form, while the second illustrates it in his vampire form. The team at Rebel Wolves has also noted that players have the freedom to abandon any quest mid-way to pursue something else.

It’s important to remember that Cohen’s primary goal is to save his family within a period of 30 days. Interestingly, players can choose to attack the castle of the final boss on the very first day, disregarding everything else. While achieving victory in such a scenario would be extremely challenging, the very option is exciting. Time only advances when completing quests, and the game clearly indicates how many hours particular decisions will require. During exploration, the timer remains stagnant.

The Blood of Dawnwalker is being developed for PC (available on Steam), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series, without Russian localization. The release is planned for 2026.
