Nintendos Strategic Expansion: Acquisition of Bandai Namco Studios in Singapore

The company Nintendo has announced its plans to acquire Bandai Namco Studios Singapore, a studio based in Singapore known to gamers for the adventure game Hirogami, which was released in September.

An agreement with Bandai Namco has already been reached. According to the contract, Nintendo will purchase 80% of the shares of the Singapore division on April 1, 2026, with the remaining shares to be acquired «at a later date,» once the company has stabilized the operations of the newly acquired subsidiary. The financial details of the deal remain undisclosed.

Following the completion of the acquisition, Bandai Namco Studios Singapore will be rebranded as Nintendo Studios Singapore. There has been no mention of potential changes within the team. It is likely that the Singapore studio will serve as a support branch for Nintendo‘s game development, continuing to perform the same functions it has for the past decade.
