New Silent Hill f Trailer Unveils Hauntingly Beautiful 1960s Japan as Players Embrace Terror and Puzzle-Solving

Recently, Konami provided a glimpse of Silent Hill f, a core installment in the series set against the backdrop of rural Japan in the 1960s rather than the well-known town itself. Now, the publisher has unveiled a complete trailer for this highly anticipated title during an online event broadcast on YouTube. Motoi Okamoto, who oversees the Silent Hill series for Konami, stated that the game’s concept revolves around discovering «beauty in terror,» a theme prevalent in Japanese horror. He elaborated that extreme beauty and perfection can evoke profound discomfort, and the development team aimed to explore the interplay between beauty and horror within a psychological narrative.

In fact, the setting of Silent Hill f is strikingly beautiful, even in scenes meant to be chilling. It unfolds in the imaginary town of Ebisugaoka, inspired by Kanayama, Gero in Gifu, which is predominantly characterized by mountainous terrain and dense forests. Players take on the role of high schooler Shimizu Hinako, who must decipher puzzles and face off against creatures to endure after her town is enveloped by a fog that distorts it into a nightmarish replica of reality. The world of the game was largely envisioned by Ryukishi07, recognized for the When They Cry visual novel series that blends horror and mystery.

While Silent Hill f doesn’t have a confirmed release date as of now, it is set to launch on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC through Steam and the Epic Games store.
