New Mobile App ruID Launched for Foreign Travelers to Russia

A new mobile application called ruID has been launched. It is specifically designed for foreigners planning to visit Russia. Through ruID, users can submit entry requests, learn about restrictions, and create a digital profile for accessing government services.

Here’s how to apply for visa-free entry:

1. Register on ruID using an email address. A Russian phone number is not mandatory.
2. No later than 72 hours before entering Russia, provide the purpose of your visit and your personal information. In exceptional cases, this can be done up to 4 hours prior.
3. Take a photograph of yourself.
4. Capture an image of your identification document.
5. Record your voice.
6. Wait for your information to be verified.

Exempt from this application process are:

— Citizens of the Republic of Belarus;
— Children under 6 years old;
— Diplomats and consular staff;
— Employees of international organizations accredited in Russia and their family members.

At the border, the following occurs:

— Verification of the application details;
— Creation of a digital profile;
— Assignment of a SNILS number and a government services account.

These details will be useful for tasks such as obtaining a SIM card, and in the future, more services will be available through ruID.
