New Horizons in Gaming: Infinix GT Book Makes a Bold Debut

Infinix has previously produced laptops, but this marks their inaugural foray into the realm of gaming laptops. The Infinix GT Book was presented in India simultaneously with the launch of the Infinix GT 20 gaming phone. This model is powered by up to 13th generation Intel processors and features the Nvidia GeForce RTX 4060 GPU. It boasts a distinctive aesthetic that is sure to attract attention, all while being competitively priced. After using the Infinix GT Book for a few days, I’m ready to share my initial insights, though I haven’t yet fully explored all its features.

To begin with, let’s discuss the design. The Infinix GT Book sports an appealing Cyber Mecha design, reminiscent of some of the latest smartphones from the company. Both the top and bottom lids are crafted from metal with a matte finish, effectively minimizing the visibility of fingerprints and smudges. The Mecha Loop emblem adorns the lid as well. Overall, the GT Book feels solidly constructed, and you can easily open the lid with just one hand. Infinix claims it is the lightest gaming laptop available, with a 16-inch display that weighs just 1.99kg.

The Mecha bar features customizable RGB lighting

Additionally, it includes RGB lighting in the form of a slender strip at the back referred to as the Mecha Bar. The rear section also contains the exhaust vents. The bottom panel showcases an orange-accented grille for the intake fans and robust rubber feet to stabilize the laptop. All the RGB lighting can be customized via the GT Control Centre, but I will provide more details on that in my comprehensive review.

Upon lifting the lid, you’ll find a full-sized keyboard complete with 4-zone RGB lighting and a relatively compact touchpad. The 16-inch display features an anti-glare layer, narrow bezels on the sides, and slightly thicker bezels at the top and bottom. The display delivers a 16:10 aspect ratio, full-HD resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, and brightness levels of up to 300 nits. At first glance, it seems to be a suitable display for gaming. The top bezel is home to a 1080p webcam along with dual microphones.

Before diving into the internal components, let’s review the ports available on the laptop. You will find two USB Type-A 3.2 ports, an SD card slot, HDMI 2.0, and a USB Type-C DP port. For connectivity, the Infinix GT Book supports dual-band WiFi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2. The package includes a 210W power adapter, which could easily double as a makeshift weapon. Infinix’s choice of ports here is commendable.

Now, concerning the internal specifications, the Infinix GT Book is powered by a 70 Whr battery, utilizes dual fans for cooling, and comes with up to 32GB of non-upgradable LPDDR5 RAM, along with up to 1TB of PCIe 4.0 storage. The laptop can be configured with a 13th Gen Intel Core i9 13900H processor, coupled with up to Nvidia GeForce RTX 4060 GPU with 8GB of VRAM. Our review unit is equipped with a 12th Gen Intel Core i5 12450H processor, Nvidia GeForce RTX 3050 that has 6GB of video RAM, 16GB of LPDDR5 RAM, and 512GB of PCIe 4.0 storage. Additionally, there is an option featuring a 13th Gen Intel Core i5 processor and Nvidia GeForce RTX 4050 GPU.

The laptop is enhanced with orange accents on the vents and speaker grills

The entry-level variant I will be testing is priced at Rs. 59,990, featuring a total graphics power (TGP) of 80W, while the other two configurations boast a slightly elevated 90W TGP. I will conduct thorough assessments of the laptop to gauge its gaming performance.

Infinix has made a solid debut with the GT Book gaming laptop. Its pricing is appealing, and as part of a limited-time promotional launch, users will receive some extras with their purchase. These include an RGB gaming mouse, RGB gaming headphones, and an RGB gaming mousepad. While the internal components may be a generation older compared to the latest gaming laptops, they should suffice for gaming, video editing, and more. Be sure to check back for our complete review to determine if the Infinix GT Book is a worthy gaming laptop choice.
