New Disney+ and Hulu Subscriber Perks Promised: From Movie Premieres to Concert Tickets

Walt Disney Co. is enhancing its incentive program for subscribers of its primary Disney+ streaming platform while also introducing a similar initiative for Hulu users.

The Disney+ program, launching on Thursday, expands upon offers that were initially rolled out on a limited basis last year. Users who log in through the Disney+ website will have the opportunity to enjoy benefits like discounts on Disney resorts, complimentary items in video games, and a $10 (approximately Rs. 855) credit for Disney Pinnacle by Dapper Labs, known for its collectible pins.

Subscribers will have the chance to participate in contests to win a Disney cruise and attend premieres, including the forthcoming Freakier Friday. The program features discounts with partners such as DoorDash and Duolingo’s language learning platform. Initially, these perks will be available to subscribers in the US, with an international expansion planned for later this year. Customers will receive notifications about offers through social media and weekly emails.

On June 2, Hulu’s streaming service will launch its own perks initiative, providing subscribers an opportunity to win tickets to events like Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Comic-Con, and the Lollapalooza music festival. Those who purchase bundled subscriptions that include both services will have access to benefits from each program.

Streaming services, which previously concentrated on attracting new subscribers, are now increasingly focused on retaining users for longer durations. The longer customers remain with a service, the less likely they are to unsubscribe, making them more valuable to advertisers.

“Our fans are among the most enthusiastic globally, and these perks represent our gratitude for their subscriptions to Disney+,” stated Samantha Rosenberg, executive vice president of marketing for the service.

As of the end of March, Disney+ boasted 126 million users worldwide, reflecting a one percent increase from the previous quarter, while Hulu had 54.7 million subscribers, marking a two percent rise. The entertainment giant based in Burbank, California, has shifted its emphasis away from merely increasing subscriber numbers to ensuring the profitability of its streaming division, which posted $629 million in operating income during the first half of fiscal 2025.

Disney+’s monthly churn rate, representing subscriber cancellations, was at three percent in April, which is better than the industry average, as reported by the market research firm Antenna.
