NetherRealm Confirms End of Content Support for Mortal Kombat 1

In the middle of the month, developers from **NetherRealm Studios** released the complete edition of Mortal Kombat 1. By that time, it was already apparent that the game’s content support had come to an end, despite the initial promises from the developers to make **MK1** the most enduring entry in the franchise. Nevertheless, the studio remained silent until a week and a half later when it officially announced the conclusion of the life cycle of **Mortal Kombat 1**.

**NetherRealm** has decided to wrap up this title in favor of their next project, the specifics of which remain a mystery. However, according to information from an insider, it appears that the creators are working on the third installment of **Injustice**.

It seems that the financial performance of **Mortal Kombat 1** did not meet the company’s expectations. By January of this year, the game had sold 5 million copies, which is three times lower than the sales of Mortal Kombat 11. Meanwhile, the entire **Mortal Kombat** franchise has surpassed 100 million copies sold. The most successful entry remains **MK11**, which enjoyed 7 months more of content support than **MK1**.
