Monster Train 2: The Epic Card Roguelike Sequel Arrives on May 21

The sequel to the well-loved deck-building roguelike, Monster Train, is set to launch on May 21. It will be available on PC through Steam, as well as on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch.

In Monster Train 2, your foes will be titans who have seized control of the Heavens. In the face of a common enemy, former angels and demons form an alliance. To defeat the titans, players will embark on a journey aboard a train traversing the realms of Heaven, Hell, and the Abyss.

The new Monster Train retains the core mechanics of its predecessor. Battles take place in a train car divided into four stories. Enemies invade from the lower level and ascend with each turn. The player’s objective is to strategically play cards to position their defenders and utilize abilities to prevent the villains from reaching the top floor, where the Hell’s Heart resides. Destroying it will end the run.

Building upon this foundation, the developers at Shiny Shoe have introduced several new features. Notably, there will be five previously unseen clans, each with unique strengths and weaknesses. Additionally, new units, regular enemies, bosses, and two new types of cards have been announced: one set enhances the train, while the other boosts fighters.

One of the key additions in the sequel is the Outpost of Concord, a hub where the story unfolds and essential gameplay features are available. These include:

Moreover, responding to community requests, the developers have included an «endless» mode featuring increasingly challenging battles.

Monster Train 2 will also offer a text-based Russian localization. A demo is available for download on Steam.
