Missed Chances Costing Neftekhik: Grishin Reflects on Defeat to Ak Bars

The head coach of Neftekhimik, **Igor Grishin**, expressed his disappointment over the missed opportunities in the crucial match against Ak Bars, which ended 1-3.

– Today, we witnessed an engaging, competitive, and fast-paced game filled with numerous battles and emotions. Unfortunately, we weren’t able to score enough goals against Ak Bars. We managed to net one goal, which isn’t sufficient for a win. There were several instances of uneven play. At the start of the third period, we had a 5-on-3 advantage and created a couple of chances, but sadly, we couldn’t convert them.

**– It would have been nice to head to the break in better spirits. In your opinion, despite the loss, were there any positive aspects?**
– Honestly, it was a decent game today. I think the fans who filled the arena and wholeheartedly supported both teams enjoyed it. Overall, we had good movement and created numerous scoring opportunities. We spent a lot of time in the opponent’s zone, and it was gratifying to see how well the players interacted in their territory. Nevertheless, we need to capitalize on our chances, – Grishin’s comments were reported by the club’s press service.
