Microsoft Restores Nostalgic Windows Vista Startup Sound in Latest Windows 11 Update

Microsoft has released an updated preview build of Windows 11, which finally addresses the issue of the Windows Vista startup sound.

According to the support document, the problem was resolved before it reached the stable release channel.

It’s unclear how many testers installed the builds that included the Windows Vista sound, but users expressed nostalgia for the old operating system. Some even suggested that Microsoft should implement an option to toggle the startup sound.

Earlier this month, Microsoft acknowledged a mistake in the latest preview builds of Windows 11, where developers had replaced the Windows 11 startup sound with that of the 20-year-old Windows Vista.

The bug was later fixed, but only in the Beta Channel, while it remained unresolved in the Dev Channel. The developers admitted that addressing this issue would take some time.
