Microsoft Halts Rollout of Redesigned Battery Indicator for Windows 11

Microsoft has paused the rollout of its redesigned battery indicator in Windows 11, which had been undergoing testing for a few weeks and was introduced in the latest Release Preview update.

The company stated, «We have halted the deployment of this change to address some issues. We plan to resume it in a forthcoming update shortly.»

The updated battery indicator aims to tackle several concerns. It will be significantly larger and incorporate additional colors to more effectively represent the battery’s status. A green color will indicate that the battery is charging, yellow will signify that it is in power-saving mode, and red will alert users that the PC will shut down soon. Additionally, the indicator will display the battery percentage. Users will have the option to disable this new feature in the “Settings” > “Power & battery” > “Battery percentage” section.

At this time, it remains unclear when the company will resume the rollout of the feature.
