Microsoft Edge 137 Released: Security Improvements and Simplified Features Unveiled

On May 29, 2025, the stable version of Microsoft Edge 137 was released for Windows 10/11, macOS, and Linux. This latest update includes bug fixes, new policies, security patches, and enhancements to the sidebar. The previous version of the browser was launched in early May.

The Edge 135 build incorporates security patches addressing specific vulnerabilities and updates relevant to the Chromium project.

In this new version, several components have been removed (with developers planning to phase them out by mid to late May): Image Editor, Image Hover Menu, Mini Menu, Video Super Resolution, and Wallet Hub (for instance, the «Wallet» option has been eliminated from the «Settings» section). Microsoft has decided to eliminate these features to streamline browser functionality.

Key changes and additions in Microsoft Edge 137 include:

— Enhancements to the Picture-in-Picture feature with new playback controls. Users can now activate videos in Picture-in-Picture mode and easily pause, play, rewind, or fast-forward, as well as seek through the progress bar directly from the Picture-in-Picture window.

— Web content filtering for Edge for Business, with Microsoft updating the web content filtering daily to keep its policies and blocklists up to date. This feature is currently available in public preview and aims to help ensure employee safety online. It can be configured using the Microsoft Edge Management Service.

— Microsoft Copilot in Edge now supports generating summaries of pages and contextual queries within the «Work» tab for Microsoft 365 Copilot Business Chat.

— Edge for Business introduces support for Microsoft 365 Copilot Chat in the «Find on Page» function (CTRL+F). This feature is designed to streamline the process of locating relevant content for users, ultimately saving time.
