Microsoft Acknowledges Outlook Bugs Following Calendar Feature Update

Microsoft has acknowledged issues with the classic Outlook application related to a major update of the «Calendar» features.

The shared Outlook calendar essentially enables multiple users to access and manage a common calendar. It offers real-time synchronization, the ability to view shared calendars, and additional functionalities.

However, the implementation of these updates has introduced glitches in the Outlook application, including:

— Recipients not seeing changes in attachments;
— Recipients receiving meeting cancellation notifications after a participant is added or removed;
— Synchronization errors occurring.

Currently, there is no fix for these issues, and users are advised to save attachments on SharePoint or OneDrive and share the links whenever possible.

Microsoft has released an official guide to help users navigate around these disruptions. The company noted that «the improvements to the shared calendar are now enabled by default in the latest versions of Outlook across all Microsoft 365 app update channels.»

Previously, Microsoft announced a new «Calendar» app for Windows 11, which presents the day’s schedule in a pop-up window directly above the taskbar. This app will complement the Microsoft 365 Companion, which already includes the «People» and «File Search» services. The «Calendar» app will provide easy access to common tasks, such as viewing the day’s or week’s agenda, opening meeting chats, and responding to invitations from the Windows 11 taskbar. Users can select any event to open a Teams meeting invitation and choose to «Join,» as well as search for events by name or organizer and access chat features.

In April, Microsoft confirmed an issue with display in Outlook that caused users to see empty calendars.
