Mi Band 6 Unveiled: Enhanced Features and SpO2 Tracking Elevate the Budget Fitness Tracker

Mi Bands have gained significant popularity in India due to their cost-effectiveness and feature set. Our testing experience indicates that these bands offer impressive accuracy in fitness tracking. The newly released Mi Band 6 includes SpO2 tracking, a feature that many were eagerly awaiting. Xiaomi has also introduced a larger display and the capability to monitor a broader array of workouts. So, does the Mi Band 6 represent a comprehensive solution now? I managed to try out a Mi Band 6, and here are my initial thoughts.

Xiaomi Mi Band 6 Pricing in India

The Mi Band 6 is available in India for Rs. 3,499 (previous Mi Band owners can avail a Rs. 500 discount). It is offered only with a black band, and Xiaomi plans to provide additional band color choices, such as Orange, Light Green, Maroon, and Blue, which will be sold separately.

At first glance, the Xiaomi Mi Band 6 may seem very similar to the Mi Band 5 (Review), but the differences become clear once the display is turned on. Unlike its predecessor’s rectangular screen, this model features a large 1.56-inch capsule-shaped AMOLED display that occupies the entire front face. The resolution of this display is 152×486 pixels, and it’s protected by tempered glass with an anti-fingerprint coating. The bezels at the top and sides are quite thin, while the bottom bezel is noticeably thicker.

The rear side of the Mi Band 6 houses health sensors and charging pins

The Mi Band 6 is devoid of buttons, relying solely on touch interactions. You can swipe across the display to navigate through various features and functions. This fitness tracker is water-resistant up to 5 ATM.

Mi Band 6 is equipped with sensors for monitoring heart rate and SpO2 levels. There are also charging pins that connect with the magnetic charger. It comes with a 125mAh battery, which Xiaomi claims can charge in less than two hours and can provide up to 14 days of standby time.

Connectivity is facilitated by Bluetooth 5 on the Mi Band 6, which requires a companion app on your paired smartphone. You can connect the Mi Band 6 with either the Xiaomi Wear or Mi Fit applications, and it is compatible with Strava. It supports devices running Android 5.0 and above as well as iPhones with iOS 10 and later.

Track your blood oxygen levels with the Mi Band 6

The bright display proved to be adequately illuminated during my indoor usage and was responsive to my commands. It supports multiple watch faces, and according to Xiaomi, there are over 60 available to personalize your Mi Band 6. Additionally, you can utilize the app to customize various widgets and set up app notifications on the fitness band.

The Mi Band 6 can track steps and distances and boasts an expanded range of exercise tracking in comparison to its predecessors. Xiaomi claims that the Mi Band 6 can monitor 30 different exercise types, six of which can be detected automatically. Sleep tracking is also available, providing insights into your sleep quality and breathing patterns during sleep. Other fitness capabilities of the Mi Band 6 include stress management, menstrual cycle tracking, and a Personal Activity Intelligence index.

With the inclusion of SpO2 tracking, the Mi Band 6 also supports logging more exercise types and features a larger display, but the battery size appears to remain the same. Will this affect the performance of the Mi Band 6? Is it the new best choice for a budget fitness band? Stay tuned to Gadgets 360 for a comprehensive review to find out.
