The Sony Xperia 1 VII is anticipated to be revealed shortly, with the company announcing a launch event scheduled for next week. This potential device, recently identified on a benchmarking platform, is likely to be showcased at this event. Previous leaks have provided insights into the rumored design and color options of the upcoming smartphone. It is set to serve as the successor to the Sony Xperia 1 VI, which was launched in select global regions in May 2024 alongside the Sony Xperia 10 VI.

Sony Xperia Launch Event

Sony announced via a post on X that it will reveal a new Xperia device on May 13 at 4am CEST (10pm IST). The launch will be streamed live on its official YouTube channel. The promotional material hints at the forthcoming product and features the silhouette of a smartphone. The introduction of the Sony Xperia 1 VII is expected during this event.

Significantly, a Sony smartphone bearing the model number Sony XQ-FS54, which is believed to be the Sony Xperia 1 VII, was recently listed on Geekbench. It is anticipated to include a Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC along with 12GB of RAM and is expected to operate on Android 15 at launch.

A previous report indicated that the Sony Xperia 1 VII was found on Taiwan’s NCC certification website. The listing depicted the device in black, navy green, and purple color variants. It is rumored to feature a triple rear camera setup that includes an Exmor-T sensor. The dimensions of the handset are expected to be 165mm in height and 74mm in width, making it slightly taller than the 162mm long Sony Xperia 1 VI.

The Sony Xperia 1 VI features a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. It operates on Android 14 and boasts a 6.5-inch full-HD+ OLED display fine-tuned by Bravia with a refresh rate of up to 120Hz, protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2. The rear consists of a 48-megapixel primary Sony Exmor T sensor, complemented by a 12-megapixel ultra-wide camera, a 12-megapixel zoom lens, and an additional 12-megapixel sensor on the front. A 5,000mAh battery provides support for 30W fast charging.
