Lando Norris Claims Third Place in BBC Sports Personality of the Year Award

The 2025 Formula 1 World Champion, Lando Norris, secured third place at the prestigious BBC Sports Personality of the Year award. The top honor went to Northern Irish golfer Rory McIlroy, while the second spot was claimed by rugby player Ellie Kildunne.

Both Norris and the current darts champion, Luke Littler, were unable to attend the awards ceremony in Salford in person. The F1 champion made an appearance via video call.

«Hello everyone, good evening. I apologize for not being there with you today. I’m currently enjoying a little break. This year has been very enjoyable for me,» Norris stated in his message.

Previously, the British driver explained his absence by referencing a ski holiday, which he is taking to celebrate his first World Championship title, won in Abu Dhabi. Luke Littler, who finished second in the same category in 2024, also announced ahead of time that he would not attend the ceremony, as he didn’t consider himself a favorite and was focused on defending his championship title.
