Kremlin Sees U.S. Security Strategy Shift as Harmonious with Russian Outlook

Russia has expressed approval of the recent modifications to the U.S. National Security Strategy, stating that these changes represent a significant shift from previous U.S. policies, and align closely with Moscow’s perspective.

The updated National Security Strategy, released early on Friday, criticized European allies for being overly regulated, lacking confidence, and facing a threat of «civilizational erasure» due to immigration challenges.

According to the document, while the U.S. intends to prevent other nations from gaining dominance, it emphasized that this does not imply a willingness to squander resources or lives in curtailing the influence of all major and middle-tier nations.

Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov remarked that the current U.S. administration is «fundamentally different» from its predecessors while commenting on the revised strategy.

«I would say that the adjustments we are observing align significantly with our outlook,» Peskov noted in an interview with the state television channel Rossia, which aired on Sunday.

He added that «President Trump currently holds a strong position in domestic politics, allowing him to tailor the strategy to reflect his vision.»

This release of the updated security strategy coincided with discussions held by officials from Kyiv in Florida with Trump’s representatives regarding a U.S.-proposed plan aimed at resolving the nearly four-year-long conflict in Ukraine.

After three days of negotiations, no substantial progress was reported.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has pledged to continue working towards «real peace,» even as Russia launched another wave of drone and missile attacks on Ukraine early Saturday morning.

On Monday, Zelensky is expected to meet with European leaders, including French President Emmanuel Macron, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, in London to assess the state of the negotiations.
