Kremlin Dismisses Trumps Tough Talk, Sees Alignment on Ukraine Negotiations

The Kremlin stated on Wednesday that it remains indifferent to U.S. President Donald Trump’s claims that President Vladimir Putin is speaking “a lot of bulls***” regarding peace negotiations in Ukraine.

“We are quite calm about it. To start, it’s important to note that Trump generally uses strong language,” said Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov when asked about the comments made by the American president the day before.

Peskov also attempted to highlight a common ground between Russia and Trump, referencing the U.S. president’s acknowledgment during a televised cabinet meeting on Tuesday that finding a resolution to the Ukrainian conflict has proven to be “more challenging” than initially anticipated.

“We took note of Trump’s significant remark that settling the Ukrainian issue has turned out to be far more complicated than he originally believed. This is consistent with our perspective that it cannot be resolved in a short period,” Peskov stated.

“There is no disagreement,” he continued, asserting that Trump’s attempts at peace are grappling with “the inherent complexity of the situation.”

Moreover, Peskov mentioned that the Kremlin still hopes to engage in discussions with Washington on “restoring the severely damaged bilateral relations” between the two nations, despite Trump’s increasingly critical comments.

When asked about a leaked audio clip in which Trump purportedly told donors at a 2024 campaign fundraiser that he had cautioned Putin against invading Ukraine or else “I’m going to bomb the sh** out of Moscow,” Peskov referred all inquiries to the White House.

“I cannot confirm or deny this, as much as I would like to,” Peskov commented. “We are unsure if it’s authentic or not.”

He also noted that “there were no phone calls [between Trump and Putin]” during Trump’s re-election campaign last year.

The Trump campaign chose not to comment on the reported audio, according to CNN.
