KHL Discipline Committee Chair Kamensky Explains Dronovs Five-Match Suspension Reasons

The Chairman of the KHL Disciplinary Committee, Valery Kamensky, has provided comments regarding the Disciplinary Committee’s decision to suspend the «Traktor» defender, Grigory Dronov, for five matches due to an incident involving pushing a linesman during the game against «Avtomobilist» (3:5).

«The Committee thoroughly analyzed the situation from the match between ‘Avtomobilist’ and ‘Traktor,’ where defender Grigory Dronov was penalized for physical contact with the game’s officials. In this case, the player was aware of the linesman’s presence and had the chance to avoid the collision, yet he opted to strike the official in the back with his stick. The protective gear worn by officials is lighter than that of the players, which makes such actions particularly dangerous. Considering all these aspects, the Disciplinary Committee reached a unanimous decision to impose a five-match suspension,» stated Kamensky, as reported by the KHL press service.
