Kasper Ruud Reflects on His Doubles Experience at the 2024 Laver Cup

The 12th-ranked player in the world, Norwegian tennis star Kasper Ruud, shared his thoughts on participating in the 2025 Laver Cup, reminiscing about his doubles matches with Greek player Stefanos Tsitsipas and Spanish player Carlos Alcaraz.

«I have a clear memory of last year. I don’t often play doubles, but on the second day, I teamed up with Tsitsipas, and we lost. I returned to play a doubles match the very next morning [with Alcaraz]. You can never truly be out of the game until the last point is played. There have been times when Europe dominated, and other moments when the World team had the upper hand. And then there were very close encounters. Fortunately, last year, that close moment ended in our favor,» Ruud stated, as quoted by the official Laver Cup website.

In the previous year’s Laver Cup, Ruud and Tsitsipas lost to Ben Shelton and Alejandro Tabilo 1-6, 2-6, but later, Kasper and Carlos Alcaraz triumphed over Shelton and Frances Tiafoe with a score of 6-2, 7-6 (8-6). Ultimately, the European team defeated the World team 13-11.
